Jill Krementz

American author and photographer. Born in 1940. She worked as a photographer for the New York Times and also in Vietnam. She published volumes of her photography and also wrote a number of children's books, mainly picture books for younger children, in particular the 'Very Young' series which are chronicles of the lives of real girls interested in various past-times, all illustrated by photos taken by the author. The series included one on riding. I don't know if the author had any particular interest in horses beyond the photo-journalistic viewpoint, but the book was well-loved by a generation of horse-mad American kids in the seventies and eighties and it's young heroine Vivi was the envy of many!

Ms. Krementz was also well known for being the married to cult author Kurt Vonnegut.
